Cecile Monique is an up-and coming independent Gothic/Symphonic metal artist from Canada. A young, rising star who brings a modern voice to an established genre in the European rock scene, Cecile Monique represents a new generation of female metal artists, breathing new life into the style and attracting a new generation of listeners in North America and beyond. Continuing in the legacy of seasoned female-fronted acts such as Delain, Tarja, Within Temptation and Nightwish, Cecile Monique’s contemporary edge and distinctly North American sensibility provides an excellent representation of the Gothic/Symphonic style in Canada. A classically-trained vocalist, composer and arranger, Cecile Monique’s singular creativity, diverse musical influences, and her fresh, youthful style have provided the fuel to create the distinctive fusion of rich vocals with modern, innovative instrumentation that exist together in perfect harmony and have become her signature, genre-bending sound.

In addition to her impressive musical talent, Cecile’s cosmopolitan personality and multicultural roots (half European and half Hispanic) also broaden her appeal to an international audience; Cecile is fluent in several languages and has recorded and performed songs in English, Spanish, French, Italian, German, Czech, and Latin.

In 2010, Cecile Monique was awarded the prestigious FACTOR New Talent Award in support of her self-titled EP release featuring three of her original songs recorded at Metalworks Studios, Canada’s #1 recording studio. In 2013, Cecile was selected for the national Wacken Metal Battle competition and was one of only a select few female-fronted acts in contention to represent Canada at Wacken. Together with her band, Cecile Monique’s powerful, distinctive musical style and charismatic stage presence firmly cement this up-and-coming artist in the international ‘watch list’ for the new generation of Gothic Rock/Symphonic Metal artists.
