BIO

Cecile Monique is an up-and coming independent Gothic Rock/Symphonic Metal artist from Ontario, Canada. A classically-trained vocalist, composer and arranger, Cecile Monique represents a new generation of female-fronted metal acts and brings a modern voice to an established genre in the European rock scene. Continuing in the legacy of seasoned female-fronted bands such as Within Temptation, Nightwish, Delain, and Epica, Cecile Monique’s larger-than-life operatic vocals and darkly opulent sound provide an excellent representation of the Gothic/Symphonic style in Canada.

In 2013, Cecile was selected for the national Wacken Metal Battle competition and was one of only a select few female-fronted acts in contention to represent Canada at the Wacken Metal Festival in Germany. In May 2016, Cecile Monique made national and international news when she was chosen as one of only five worldwide finalists (and the only North American and Canadian finalist) in the M’era Luna Festival 2016 Newcomer Competition to play the main stage at the largest Gothic music festival in the world, M’era Luna, in Hildesheim, Germany.

Cecile Monique has since performed as the co-headliner of Hamilton’s RevStock festival, and has received airplay on a number of radio stations, including the nationally-renowned metal show, THE REVEREND RADIO SHOW on 101.5 FM The Hawk, as well as THE PIT RADIO SHOW on Canada’s Extreme Metal Radio and Oklahoma-based syndicated radio show and podcast METAL MOOSE RADIO SHOW. The music video for Cecile Monique’s song “Kindred” made its broadcast premiere on the Claudio show on the Telehit television channel in Mexico and Latin America. Cecile Monique has received press coverage from media outlets such as CTV, CBC KW, Rogers TV, BraveWords, PureGrainAudio and Alan Cross’ “Journal of Musical Things” Blog. Together with her live band, Cecile Monique’s powerful, distinctive musical style and charismatic stage presence firmly cement this up-and-coming artist in the international ‘watch list’ for the new generation of Gothic Rock/Symphonic Metal artists.
